You Could Save a Life: Here’s Where to Find Waterstone’s 2 AEDs
An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It's a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. Audible or visual prompts guide the user through the process. Anyone trained to use cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can be trained to use an AED.
Waterstone has two AEDs:
One AED is located on the walking path next to the Tidewater Clubhouse (12046 Pebblepoint Pass).
The other AED is located in the pool area. Note: A pool key fob is needed to access this AED.
When a person suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, chances of survival decrease by 7% to 10% for each minute that passes without defibrillation. A person’s best chance for survival is when there is revival within four minutes. Experts estimate that 100,000 lives could be saved each year if AEDs were widely used.
When a cardiac emergency strikes, finding an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can help save a life. But that takes knowing where AEDs are located.
Remember: Knowing the location of an AED and how to use it may save a life.
